Fair 2012

This year was no exception to the Fair, we went of course, we were only able to go the first 2 days then we headed to Winnamucca, NV for Shaun to rope. Wednesday we did the parade, the first part anyway, this was Sydney's first year being able to dance in the parade for Dance Factory. She loved it and wants to do it again next year. Then we headed straight out to the fair to ride the rides for family night. Grandma Sue buys the kids each 10 tickets every year and we do it on family night because all the rides are only 1 ticket each.

I took the kids on the Farris Wheel, I don't remember it being so scary! Maybe because I was worried that Preston would lean over too far and fall out.

Sydney with her friend Kinley Richards from Dance and School.  They were able to ride a few "big" ride together while I took Preston and Shelby on the smaller rides.

Horseracing

Shaun bought Antonio this summer for chariot racing this winter, so he decided to run him on the flat track to see how well he ran.  Well, out of 3 times racing he placed all 3 times.  The first race he placed 2nd in Malad and the other 2 times he raced in Idaho Falls and place 3rd one week and 2nd the other, just barely getting beat.  So he has at least paid for his feed and entry fees.  Chariot races start the end of this month, hopefully he and Jake will win!!

The kids at the paddock waiting for Antonio to come out and get saddled for the the race.  The girls wore red because Antonio was in the red gate.

Pictures

We were getting ready to go over to the Logan rodeo and had a little extra time to kill so we went out and started taking pictures.  As you can see below, my kids aren't shy in front of the camera, I think they would have their pictures taken everyday if they could.

 Sydney 8 1/2 yrs
 Shelby 5 1/2 yrs
 Preston 3 1/2 yrs
The kids w/o the horse, he didn't want to get his picture that day :)

Tracey Aviary

I love Groupon.com, this past summer we went on a few outtings thanks to discounts at Groupon.  One of these was to the Tracey Aviary in Salt Lake.  We've never been before and the kids loved it, they were doing some contruction adding some new features, so it will be fun to go back and see the expansion.  I got tickets for 1/2 off,  I don't know if I would pay the full $8/person to go in.  The park isn't that big and we were only there for a couple of hours, but what have is great and they have some great exhibits of birds.  A great 1/2 day adventure, I think next time we go we will take our lunches and spend more time taking it slow and relaxing.

Kid Conversations

The other day we were sitting at the intersection in Tremonton, when a few girls about 12 came running down the sidewalk.  Shelby says "Those girls should be with their mom".

Then Preston pipes up and says, "They don't have a mom".  Shelby then proceeds to tell them that they do.

Sydney decides to join the conversation by letting them know that "You don't know if they have a mom or not."  I thought is was a funny conversation that played out over a few girls running down the sidewalk.

Yesterday I took Shelby with me to vote and as we were walking in she asked what were we doing here.  I told her that I was going to vote.  She told me, "I'm going to vote to."

I asked, "Who are you going to vote for?"

"President Monson!"  I told her good choice.  I didn't have the heart to tell her he wasn't on the ballet.  At least I know she is listening somewhat in church on Sundays.

Chyrstal Hot Springs

This summer our whole family went to Cyrstal Hot Springs for the day.  We took our lunches and pop-up canopy.  It was so much fun, swimming and lounging all day; and it wasn't even crowded.  The girls loved playing in the pools by themselves as we watched from our lawn chairs in the shade.  Preston loved the slide, I couldn't get him off of it.  So he and I spent almost the whole time going up and down the water slide.  I haven't been to Chrystal Hot Springs since I was in High School.  I think we will have to make this a yearly tradition.  I did get sunburned on my back because I forgot to reapply it when I was doing my face, good thing I kept my kids from getting sunburned, 1 unhappy person was enough.

Uncle Mike took Preston down the slide so I could get a picture of Preston.  I can't believe he liked it so much, I thought he would be the one that was scarred.  The girls were happy going hopping around to all the pools while I took Preston up and down the slide all day.

Summer Ball

This year is was Sydney's first year playing all girl fast pitch and Shelby's first year playing t-ball.  They both loved it and can't wait until next summer for ball to start.  Sydney's best position was 3rd base.  Shelby just ran all over (like all the other kids)

This and That

Preston LOVES to be on the tractor with Dad.  I don't know what is going to happen when he is too big.  I guess we'll have to teach him how to drive :)
Our orange stripped cat that I thought was a male had kittens, Shelby is holding the one we decided to keep.  He is all white with orange ears and an orange tail.
Preston loves to wear his cowboy pants and boots with his sisters pink chaps, we couldn't have that so I found him some "hunting" chaps as he calls them becauses they are camo.

Jog-a-thon and 2nd Grade Field Trip

The kids had a jog-a-thon at school to raise money, the kids loved it.  Shelby and Preston had just as much fun walking/jogging around the track as the school kids, they walked almost the entire time.  The kids with cousin Addie, and Sydney's friend Sophie.
Preston walking with cousin Addie around the track.
Shelby coming around the track walking as fast as she can.
Sydney after the silly strink fight.  She raised the most in her class (over $200) to be in the fight.
The only day it rains in 2 weeks and it is the day of Sydney's 2nd grade field trip.  They went to Willow Park over in Logan and then visited Kent's Grocery store.  Even though it rained the whole time, they had fun.  Her friends, Kynlee and Brynlee that she sat by on the bus.
Some of her class at Kent's.
