We finally got our upstairs finished, it turned out great and we are happy. The kids love to be up there in their own space. The girls did great on their room, picking out the vinyl to put up. As you can tell by the picutures it is alreay well lived in after a month of being up there.

Sausage Hashbrown Bake

We had this Taste of Home breakfast casserole for dinner tonight. Very good, I was suprised that it didn't have eggs in it. If you try it let me know how you liked it.

Sausage Hashbrown Bake
2 lbs pork sausage
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
1 can (10 3/4 oz) cream of chicken soup
1 cup sour cream
1 carton (8oz) French onion dip
1 cup chopped onion
1/4 cup chopped green pepper
1/4 cup chopped red pepper (I used 1/2 cup green pepper because reds were $2 ea)
1/8 tsp pepper
1 package (30oz) frozen shredded hasbrown potatoes, thawed
Optional: Diced tomatoes

In a large skillet, cook sausage over medium heat(use your mix-n-chop) until no longer pink; drain on paper towels. In a large bowl, combine 1 3/4 cup of cheese and the next 7 ingredients; fold in potatoes.

Spread 1/2 of potato mixture in a greased 9x13 pan. Top with sausage and remaining potato mixture. Sprinkle with remaining cheese and diced tomotoes. Cover and bake 350 for 45 minutes. Uncover; bake 10 minutes longer or until heated through.

If you use stoneware like I do, I cooked it covered for 1 hour and then uncovered it and cooked it for 15 mins more. My potatoes were still just a little bit frozen to.

Banana Crumb Muffins

I spent the weekend cleaning out my freezer of overripe banana's and after making 6 loaves of banana bread, I decided I needed to make something else with the rest of the bananas. I found these Banana Crumb Muffins on allrecipes.com. It was something different than the banana bread my family loves. I took some to work and everybody loved them. These would freeze really well to. Hope you like them as much as we did.

Banana Crumb Muffins
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
3 bananas, mashed (I used 3 cups & doubled the recipe)
3/4 cup white sugar
1 egg, lightly beaten
1/3 cup butter, melted
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
2 TBL all-purpose flour
1/8 tsp cinnamon
1 TBL butter

1. Preheat oven to 375 F. Lightly grease 10 muffin cups, or line with muffin papers. (I used cupcake liners and got 24 cupcake size muffins from doubling the recipe).
2. In a large bowl, mix together 1 1/2 cups flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. In another bowl, beat together bananas, sugar, egg, and melted butter. Stir the banana mixture into the flour misture just until moistened. Spoon batter into prepared muffin cups.
3. In a small bowl, mix together brown sugar, 2 TBL flour and cinnamon. Cut in 1 TBL butter until mixture resembles coarse cornmeal. Sprinkle topping over muffins.
4. Bake in preheated oven for 18-20 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into center of muffin comes out clean (because mine weren't true muffin size they cooked 18mins, I would check at 15 mins. I used my Pampered Chef Stone)

Here are pictures of the girls' dormers. There beds go in each one, I wish the dormers were wider, you build and learn. They turned out great and the girls love their room. Now, just to get them to keep it clean and pick up their dirty clothes!

Shaun shot a deer the last day of hunting season. A small 3 point, he said he was doing it for the kids beacasue they would ask him every night he got home if he had shot anything. I think he just got trigger happy and wanted to shot his gun; the kids thought it was neat no matter how little it was. Preston is now on a hunting kick and wants to go hunting with his guns that he got for Christmas.

Beef Barley Soup

Last night I made Beef Barley soup for the first time. I had it growing up but never made it for our family. Shelby loved it and had 2 bowls; and Shaun isn't a soup fan and "secretly" had 2 bowls too. I am sure there are tons of different recipes out there it but this is the Quick version that I used.

Beef Barley Soup

1 lb ground beef
2 medium onions chopped
1/2 cup celery chopped (I used my food storage Freeze dried celery)
3 cups water
1 cup quick cooking Barley
2 (14 1/2oz) cans beef broth (I made my own with beef bullion)
2 (14 1/2 oz) diced tomatoes with garlic and onion
2 TBL Worchestershire sauce
1 tsp salt
1 tsp dried basil

Cook the beef, onions and celery together until meat is brown and veggies are tender(I used my Pampered chef mix n chop, if you don't have one get one, it is the best for ground meats), drain. In a stock pot add the beef and veggies, water, and broth; bring to a boil. add barley and simmer 10-20 minutes until the barley is tender. Add remaining ingredients and bring to a simmer. Serve or freeze up to 3 months.

We had a Ballerina Witch, a Barbie Princess and a Race Car Driver for Halloween this year. Since it was on a Monday, we went over to Cache Valley to all of Shaun's family on Sunday after church then stayed home and went to all our friends and family around Garland, they kids got to dress up 3 times this year so it was really fun for them. Preston really got the hang of it this year.

Shaun broke his leg 3 weeks ago at the chariot races in Preston. He was helping a friend with his team and the next thing he knew the horse had kicked his leg. Well he walked on it all day and got home about 5. He asked if he should go to the hospital because he wondered if it was broke (mind you he passed 2 hospitals on the way home). I told him YES go! That is why we have insurance. Well and hour later the door opens and he comes in on crutches and in a boot. He broke his fibula. So he is home for at least another 3 1/2 weeks in a boot. He can't go to work because he has to wear steeltoe boots and that is kind of hard when you are in an aircast boot. Thank goodness for disability checks.

The kids stay home to, since he his home. Preston and dad hang out all day why the girls are at school. It has been nice not having to wake the kids up at 5:30 in the morning to take them to neighbors. It is an adjustment, but we are getting through it. I think Shaun will be ready to go back to work though.

I only have this one little guy left, out of 3. He will be ready on Christmas Eve. $300, he has his dew claws removed and will have his first shots. He is used to kids holding him and playing with him. Mother and Father are both about 9 lbs. Mom is a red and white piebald and Dad is a red with black markings. Both are great lap dogs and have no back problems. Give me a call 435-257-8236 if you want to come and see him. $50 deposit to hold.

Eggnog French Toast

I got this recipe from the Taste of Home newsletter and we tested it out last night for dinner. The kids LOVED it! But they LOVE Eggnog. Shaun loves French Toast, but doesn't like eggnog, but he ate it, he said he would rather just have normal FT though. I really liked it to, but wouldn't want to have it everytime I made FT. It is a good change to have every once in awhile, like during this time of year when you can buy eggnog.

Hear is the recipe, try it out and let me know how your family likes it. I did make a few changes and I have noted them in ( )

Eggnog French Toast

8 eggs (I used 10 because I only had 2 eggs left)
2 cups eggnog
1/4 cup sugar (did not put in the sugar, my kids get enough)
1/2 tsp vanilla or rum extract (I used 1 tsp of vanilla)
Bread
Maple syrup
Optional: Powdered sugar

In a bowl, beat eggs. Add eggnog, sugar, and extract; soak bread. Cook on greased hot griddle until golden brown on each side, cooked through. Butter, add syrup and dust with powdered sugar if desired.

My Grandpa

My Grandpa Munns passed away in September. His birthday is tomorrow and would have been 92 years old. He was such a great man, he grew up in Garland and farmed all of his life. He served honorably during World War II. He was born and died in the exact same room. I am so glad that my kids got to know him.

I can't believe the kids were able to still play in the water in September. It was nice to let them play outside and soak up the sun one last time before Fall set in. The kids love playing in the water and having water fights.

Grateful

Thanksgiving is in just 2 days! Before it snowed, I wasn't even "feeling" the holiday spirit. Now I am so excited.

I am thankful for so many things this year (well every year) but thankful that we have finally gotten our upstairs finished (now we just need to stay home get it all put together), the girls love their new bedroom.

I am thankful that we both have jobs that are stable and able to have a roof over our head.

I am so grateful that we have vehicles that are in good condition for these early 5:30 am COLD mornings going to work.

I am thankful for my WONDERFUL kids that put up with Shaun and I as parents. We aren't perfect and they know that and tolerate us as we learn to be parents, but they know we love and support them no matter what. I am so grateful for the JOY they bring into our lives and the fun things they say.

I am grateful for our families health. We have all been pretty healthy over the years and hopefully we keep going. I am thankful for modern medicine/technology that is used to help those that are sick to become better or live with their illness. I am so very grateful for Doctors and other caregivers that dedicate their lives to helping people get better or staying healthy.

I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family and friends this year, please keep those in need in your thoughts and prayers.

First day of School

The first day of school for Shelby and Sydney. Shelby was so excited because it was her first time to go to school and be on a bus. She is a mainstreamer at the Early Learning Center run by the school district in Corinne so she gets to ride the school bus. She is gone almost 4 1/2 hours, she rides the bus an hour to school and an hour home. Most of the time she has a little nap on the way home. She loves her bus drivers they are really good. She loves school and doesn't like Wednesday's becaue she doesn't get to go. She can't wait until next year when she goes to the big school and gets to go everyday. I hope she still feels that way when she gets in middle and high school. Her teachers are Miss Karla, Miss Robin, and Miss Kay.

Sydney is in 2nd grade this year and has Miss Stevenson, this is her first year teaching and she is great. Sydney likes all of the kids in her class loves to go to school every day. She never misses spirit days on Friday. Her favorite subject is break time she says (she really likes all subjects in school)

Preston got up and got ready for school, so we had to take his picture to. He was really bummed when he realized that he didn't get to get on the bus and go to school. He cried until we got in the house. I felt so bad, I hope he still wants to go when it really is his turn.

Shaun got a new pair of binoculars for our 10 yr anniversary, so he let Preston play with his old ones. He would not put them down or share. He was bound and determined to go hunting and looking for Elk. We took the kids up Logan canyon for a drive and to try out Shaun's new ones. He loved it. Now all he talks about is going hunting and he needs his "noculars"

Shaun and I celebrated our 10 year anniversary last night. I can't believe that it has been 10 years. When I got home from work, there were flowers, a drawing from Sydney and a gift certificate to Anniversary Inn (I have always wanted to go there). Shaun got a pair of new binoculars (he picked them out last month so he could use them hunting). We took the kids to TexasRoad house for dinner, it was their 2 year anniversary in being open in Logan so they were giving away prizes. We all got to pick one, we got a free party platter, free dessert, free loaded fries, and free appitizer. So we will for sure be going back to use them. The kids loved going there, it was there first time to go. Sydney decided that is where she wants to go for her birthday dinner so she can sit on the saddle.

10 years ago, 9/11 had just happened and Shaun was nervous about flying to California for our honeymoon. I remember telling him too bad we are going, right now is the safest to fly because the security was so tight. We had a blast at Disneyland and loved every minute of it. It wasn't crowded at all (wonder why?). We had rented a little 1 bedroom house in Smithfield. I loved living there. We had bought an old house built in 1928 right before we got married and was going to fix it up. So right after our honeymoon we started on renovating our current house that we live in today. After 2 years (almost to the day) we moved in. I would prefer not to have to do that again. Just buy new or already in great condition, it was very stressful. Now, 8 years later we are finishing the upstairs because we have outgrown the downstairs.

We have 3 great kids that we wouldn't trade for the world (well most of the time). Sydney is 7, Shelby is 4, and Preston is 2. Couldn't ask for better kids to put up with us as parents.

This year was the first year Sydney played coach pitch ball. She did so good, every game she improved and hit almost everytime she was up to bat. She can still run like the wind. I hope she sticks with ball, it is the only sport she will play so far. Sydney and her trophy.

I'm a rabbit!

I was combing Preston's hair for church today and he wasn't liking it at all. I told him that mom doesn't like it when he cries like a baby and asked him if he is a baby and he said "NO!". I asked him if he was a cow, he said "NO!". I asked him if he was a chicken and again "NO!" So, I asked him what he was and he replied, "A RABBIT!" then started to laugh. Whatever gets him to stop crying for no reason works for me. He has never been a rabbit before, just thought it was funny that he picked an animal that we don't talk about a lot.

The other day I asked him what his name was. He usually replies "Preston". Well on this particular day he told me his name was "COWBOY!" Gotta love him!

Upstairs

We are finally ready to paint the upstairs. Just need to get the stair railing done, then carpet after we finish painting, which seems like forever. With 3 kids, I have to do a little at a time, but I am getting there. I have painted all the trim and doors since I took these picutres. I also got the small storage/toyroom and TV room taped to. I just haven't been able to find enough time to paint a room yet without getting interupted by kids.

TV room where the couch will go, if we can find a couch to fit through the doorway at the top of the stairs, it is only 28" wide. We may have to settle with a futton. The TV will go between the two doors, the little room that the doors go into will be a toy/tote storage space.

That's all. I will post some more when I actually get a wall painted hopefully this weekend. I did get the stair railing stained, now I just need to varnish it.

Father's Day

The kids woke up and instantly wanted to give dad his presents. He got a new shirt, a lens cleaner for his hunting gear and sunglasses, money for his horse and a chocolate tool box.

This was Sydney's first year playing coach pitch ball. She did great, improving every game. Her coach was wonderful, they actually had practices, which I know helped a lot. She only struck out a few times the whole season. She had a lot of friend from school on her team, which helped out. Plus, she wasn't the only girl on the team this year.

Today in sacrement meeting Shelby turns to me and says very seriously, "Mom my panties are stuck in my bum." The lady in front of me just starts laughing. As I try to explain that you don't say that out loud in church, I can not hold myself together without laughing to. I finally got it togther and told her if she needed to say that, she needs to tell me in my ear. After church the lady in front of me said "That is the funniest thing ever, my kids would so say that too." I am just glad that a mom was sitting in front of me that has the same age kids as me and understood.

Shelby by my mom's baby sister that passed away at only 2 weeks old.

My Dad's headstone. I can't believe he has been gone 3 1/2 years. It seems so long ago, yet so close. I am glad that we are close enough that we get to help put up the cross' and the flags every year to honor the vetern's that have served our country. The cemetary looks so great when all the flags.

The dance year has come to an end. This was Shelby's first year in dance, she did so good and loved every minute. She asks weekly when she gets to go back to dance. Sydney is getting better every year. We are so proud of both girls for danceing their hearts out!

So, I am a little late, Easter was 2 months ago and I am just getting these uploaded. I think this we was the year of the Easter Egg Hunts. The kids had 3! We went to Garland's on Saturday, it was cold but there wasn't snow on the ground like last year. Preston got the most eggs and candy. This was his last year in the "baby" section next year he gets to go to the big kids section. My kids are growing too fast.

LeAnn, Reba, & George Concert

In April Shaun and I went to the George & Reba Concert. This was the first time I had ever seen either one in concert. We thought we better go before ol'e George retires and stops doing concerts. It was great. Shaun had never eaten at PF Changs so we went there for dinner then walked over to the concert.

Miss LeAnn Womack opened, she was great, she is just a little thing only about 5'2'' and wore like 6" heels walking around signing. I don't know how she did it.

Next this wonderful lady came out and entertained us. I hope to go to her concert again next time she comes. Very entertaining. I like going to these older singers concerts because they actually sound the same in concert as they do on the radio and their cd's. Come concerts you go to and they don't even sound the same.
Melissa Pederman came out almost to the end of Reba's show and did a little comdey act with Reba. It was so funny, Shaun and I couldn't stop laughing. For those of you that don't know her she is a comedian that started on the "Reba" show with Reba, she was her ex-husband's wife. Melissa is also the host of the Singing Bee.

Then last but not least, this wonderful man came out. I do have to say he has aged a bit. But he is still pretty handsome. Sings just as good as ever. He did a lot of his older songs whichI liked.

We stayed at the Hilton down there so we didn't have to drive home late. I was glad because we didn't get out of the concert until midnight. When we got out it was pouring down rain. Good thing I put my umbrella in my purse as we walked out of the hotel room. It would have been a misreable walk to the hotel if we hadn't of had it.

I'm sitting here eating some fresh pineaple and loving it. Thanks to my handy pineapple wedger (cuts and cores it all at once), it makes eating fresh so much better, and a lot less easier. I think I will buy fresh pineapple more often. I read today somewhere in internet land that the way to know if a pineapple is fresh, is to pull the smallest leaf at the top of the pineapple, if it comes out then it is ready for cut'n.

So I got a Kindle for my birthday from Shaun and the kids, becaue Shaun know how much I LOVE to read. I always have a book with me almost everywhere I go. Ok, I got a picture of a Kindle with Shaun telling me to order the one I wanted because he didn't know how. So, I had been putting it off because I was like, that is a lot of money for my Birthday presnt and a Kindle is a total WANT, with no NEED at all. So after Shaun asking almost everyday if I had ordered it I finally did. I didn't get the one with the 3G network because I have wireless at home that I can use, so why spend the extra $60. Well I got it a couple of days ago and finally about 10:00 pm after everyone was in bed I was able to open it and look at the wonder new reader I had received. I plugged it in to start charging before I even read the instructions (isn't that what everyone does?). On my lunch I got on Amazon and got a few free books and the scriptures, hoping to come home and find them all on my kindle so I could start reading. Well I get home last night and they aren't on my Kindle. I was like WHAT?!?! I opened up my owners manul (which I should have finished reading before) and figured out that it wasn't picking up my wireless connection. So I tried to set it up manually and no luck. So I call my internet provider to let them know that my wireless was not working. Well in the process the customer service person also took out my DSL line. SO know I have no wireless and no DSL internet. She put in a ticket for somone to come by today. I told her to make sure that is was sometime after 3 pm because we won't be home until after that. Hopefully when I get home tonight my internet person will come and fix everthing so I can use my wireless and be able to FINALLY use my KINDLE. Good thing I have a BIG purse to take it with me everywhere!

So I just got on to buy Taylor Swift presale tickets and they only have upper bowl tickets, which are the same price as the lower bowl, 69.50 a piece. Which I do not mind paying that price for lower bowl but not for upper bowl. Plus they charge $15.50 each ticket for stupid processing fees, that is rediculous. I am going to try Friday when they offically go on sale to the public and see if they have lower bowl seats availible. I am hoping they saved some for the public sale. I noticed that all the scalping website already have tickets on sale. How in the heck did they get them already? Ok, off my soap box now.

Scrapbooking

So, this past month I have been able to go scrapbooking twice! This is the first time in 4 years that I have been able to do some traditional scrapbooking. This past weekend I went to the scrapbook expo in SLC for 2 days and scrapbooked. I haven't been there in 8 yrs. It was so nice to get away and do it. I am really looking forward to July's scrapbook weekend getaway at the Cottontree Hotel in SLC. If anyone is interested let me know, would love to have you come! I am now finally scrabooking Shelby's first year. It is really sad that she is 4 yrs old and I am now just getting her newborn pictures done, I will get caught up if I keep going, which hopefully now I can that the kids are a little bigger.

I opened the door at 5:30 am this morning to pack the car for work and what do I see....... A BLIZZARD. The snow was coming down like crazy and the wind was blowing YUCK! I really do not like the wind. I hope the snow doens't last long, it's spring for heavens sake (as of yesterday) we are suppose to have tulips, daffodils, and crocus' all around and mine are just coming up. Preston turned 2 on February 18th. I have no more baby, after breakfast I let him pick out the kind of cake he wanted and he picked red Velvet. We celebrated by having family come over for a taco dinner and cake and ice cream. He got a big Tonka dump truck, a basket ball hoop, some money for his savings account, a couple of hats, a tractor, and some sandbox toys. He loved all of his presents. He is getting the funnest personality. He loves to climb on things, dance, play with his trucks and love to play catch. He knows how to pop, popcorn in the microwave (as long as the wrapper is off)

The Treehouse Museum

In February me and the kids went with my sister-in-law, Angie, and her two kids to the Treehouse Museum in Ogden. This was the first time we had been there and it was so fun. The kids had a blast, we had a hard time getting them to leave. They played so hard they all fell asleep on the way home. We will for sure be going back! I wish Cache Valley had something like this.

Preston loved the Astronaut helmet. He did not want to take it off. We had a hard time getting him to leave it there. Good thing around the corner there was more fun stuff to play with to take his mind off of it.

Sydney turned 7 on January 2nd. We went bowling, ate pizza and cake and ice cream. Everyone loved it, had fun, and best of all, I didn't have to clean the house for the party. It really was fun, family from both sides came.

I love that my kids still sleep in on Christmas. Preston got up aout 8 and the girls about 8:30. The girls both got art kits that they love and Preston loves his Shark robe that he got. They left milk and cookies out for Santa, Sydney left a note for him asking him if he loved her or not. Check YES or NO.

Disneyland

The 2nd week of December we to a 10 day vacation to Vegas and Disneyland. We left on Wednesday night. We were almost out of town and the check engine light came on in the car. So, we turned around and went back home and took switched everything to the truck. We ended up getting out of here about 8 pm that night. We drove to Mesquite and got back to bed 2 am Pacific time. It was nice to get most of the drive over with while the kids were all asleep. We spent Thursday and Friday in Las Vegas. The NFR was there so we went to the Cowboy Christmas' and did some shopping. That is just as fun as going to the rodeo. We decided not to get tickets to the NFR this year because I didn't want to pay that much for my kids to go, they just aren't old enough to appreciate it yet.

Saturday morning we got up and drove to California. We went to the horseraces that night at Los Alamitos and watch the Champion of Champion races. It was fun to be there for the upset. Shaun won enough money on that 1 race to pay for to whole night, tickets, dinner, and betting, we broke even for the day.

We went to Disneyland Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. I don't know who had more fun me or the kids. We haven't been to Disneyland since our honeymoon 9 years ago. The kids were great. Shaun's parents came latter Sunday, they stayed in Vegas one more night for the last night of NFR. I hope they had fun and we didn't run them to death. We didn't take breaks at all. They're favorite part was seeing all the characters and the Pixar parade. We went and watched it everynight. Shaun loved the parad just as much as the kids did. My favorite ride is now the California Screamin rollercoaster. The longest we had to wait in any ride was 20 minutes, loved that. The kids' favorite ride was Peter Pan. We are deffinantly ready to go back. But first we are saving for a Disney cruise to the Mexican Riveria. I can't wait!

For being so cold, they turned out pretty good, it helps when you have cute kids (at least I think so). Disney On Ice

Last month we went to Disney On Ice. We go almost everytime them come to town and the kids love it. This time Preston was old enough to understand what was going on and he loved it. He is obsessed with Mickey Mouse. When they came out his eyes were glued until intermission. The girls of course loved every minute of it. Their favorite part was Ariel of course. We can't wait until we go to Disneyland next week. The kids are going to love seeing all the characters.

Our puppies are now 4 weeks old, time has gone by so fast. In 2 weeks they will be ready to go to loving homes. If you are interested in one of these adorable miniature dachshunds let me know. We are asking $275 for them. I have one sold already, so only 2 left. I have 1 female and 2 males. The female is in the middle. All 3 are chocolate brown with tan markings. The male on the right is a 1/2 shade darker than the other 2. They have already started going on a puppy pad, but I don't know if that is by chance or not. They have their dew claws removed and will have their first shots before they leave. They love to be held and will make a great Christmas present. You can pick them up on Dec 9, or wait until we get home from vacation and pick them up on the 18th or after. We can keep them until Christmas Eve if you would like it for a present, not a problem. We had a cute little Lion, a beautiful Barbie Princess and a toothless Tinkerbell this year for Halloween. Preston wasn't too hip on wearing a costume but he did pretty well.

The Tooth Fairy has finally come to our house

So Sydney finally lost her first tooth. Then 5 days later she lost her 2nd tooth then about 2 weeks later she lost her 3rd tooth and she is know working on her 4th tooth. She has pulled all 3 out by herself with no help from anyone. She wasn't afraid at all, which Iwas suprised, the blood did freak her out just little on the first one, but then she realized it didn't take long to stop.

Labor Day

Over Labor Day we went down to Sandy for the weekend and went to the zoo one day with my new SIL's. It was so much fun. Preston was the only boy, but he didn't mind being with all the girls! Of course I uploaded the pictures backwards, so you get the end of the day first.

So my mom talked me into letting her give me a foot detox bath, which she does quit regularly on herself, I guess it is suppose to take all of the toxins out of your body. I don't feel any different so I don't know how you can tell if it really works, I guess just believe. It felt kind of wierd I could feel little tingeling in my feet, I guess that is the toxins coming out of my body. Below are the pictures (backwards, I uploaded them in the wrong order).

Sydney started 1st grade this year, I don't know who was more excited, me or her. She gets to go to school all day now. We had our first parent teacher conference of the year and she is doing great. Daisy finally had her puppies in the middle of the night last night. I checked on her about 12:30 this morning and she was fine, then when I got up at 5:00 am I went and checked and there she was with 3 cute little babies. I will post pictures later, but all 3 look just like Rusty, the daddy, Chocolate brown with tan markings. I know for sure there is 1 boy because he was laying on his side eating. I didn't pickup or touch them since they were only an hour or 2 old.

In August, my nephew Hudson, turned 3. He had a water party and pinata that the kids loved hitting. Preston still isn't too fond of cold water, maybe next year he will be braver. He was just happy sitting on the sidlines watch the kids get wet. The girls loved jumping on the tramp with the sprinkler underneath it.

4th of July

After my mom's wedding we loaded up the truck and horse trailer and headed to Jackson Hole, WY for the 4th. Shaun team roped all weekend an me and the kids hung out and did whatever we wanted. We slept in the horse trailer dressing room, it wasn't too bad. Sydney, Preston , and I slept in the gooseneck with the nice mattress and Shaun and Shelby slept on the floor.

On the 4th we watched the parade. We sat by some people that were renting a house for the week. They were from Texas and very nice to let us sit there. They had a daughter named Sydney and the same age, the girls were instant friends for the parade and shared their candy with eachother. That night we drove up to Teton Village and watched the fireworks. Some of the best I have ever seen (and heard) the sould bounced of the mountains and created a huge sound like you were in a war. It reminded me of this great country we live in the freedoms we have. Thank you to all the service men and women that have so graciously volunteered to serve our country to keep us save and FREE! I sure hope it stays that way!

My mom got married 4th of July weekend. I got the idea for butterfly cupcakes from my friend Jenny Anderson, I called her a week before my mom got married and she was more than willing to help me out, even though it was on a holiday weekend and they were headed out of town. She decorated all 110 cupcakes for me. She did such a great job, I can't thank her enough. She does all sorts of great things, so if you need some really cute cupcakes she is the lady for you. THANK YOU SO MUCH JENNY, you are the BEST!!

Water Party!

Our neighbors Carli and Tyler had a huge water party back in June and invited us. It was so much fun, the kids didn't want to go home and we were there for almost 5 hours playing in the water. They had a huge water slide and a ultra big slip-n-slide. The girls loved playing on both of them. Preston wasn't as amuzed by the cold water, I think he will stick to the bath tub. He had fun just running around and being outside. This made me want to get a bonzi waterslide so the kids could play in it all the time. Maybe in a couple of years when Preston is older. I am sorry to see summer end, but excited for fall to come too!

Boy am I slow, Sydney played her 2nd year of t-ball and was so much better than last year. She hit really good and even caught a few balls when she was warming up with her teammates. I can't believe that next summer she will play coach pitch. She is just really getting decent at playing t-ball. Oh well, she will learn. I love being a mom.

My Dad's Headstone

My mom finally got their headstone up right before Memorial day. We went out to Park Valley and picked out the stone, then took it to Bott's Monument in Brigham City. They did a great job. They weren't able to engrave the other side because it was too soft so we had to redesign it and put everything on the front. It turned out great and mom likes it, which she is the only one that matters anyway.

Freezer Corn

We did freezer corn on Wednesday with 4 kids running around. As we were husking it Preston and Shelby would get an ear and eat it raw. I have no idea how they could stand it but they ate like 2 ears each like that. Preston carried his around with him outside and would take a bit every now and then. It was funny to watch him. A HUGE THANK YOU to my friend Heather and her husband for planting it in their field, helping me pick it, and then coming and helping me put it up, it saved me a lot of time. I got 28 bags of corn.

Sydney's Dance Review was in May, boy am I slow. My camera's batteries died so I didn't get any pictures of her in her Cheer Costume. She is such a good dancer (I am a little biased) but she has improved so much compared to last year. And she loves cheerleading. Shelby gets to take dancing for the first time this year and she is so excited to finally be old enough to go to dance class. She gets to go to dance camp this friday for the first time. We will see how it goes when she is by herself without Sydney.

Sydney had her end of year kindergarten class with all the classes. HECTIC, but they all did so good. 100 kids and all their parents, siblings and g-parents do not fit in the gym very well. They sang alot of songs, I am so proud of her!! She is so excited to go all day to first grade in a few weeks. She got Mrs. Christensen and she actually has a few of her really good friends in her class thank goodness.

We got corn on the cob in our Bountiful Basket and is was so good. This is Preston's first time eating corn on the cob. He did pretty good cleaning it off. He loved it. We have had it a few times since and he just can't get enough.

Preston saw the ice cream scoop on the counter and thought he needed some ice cream. He pushed the stool over to the bar and climbed up and got it. I think I am going to have a problem with him getting into everything.

Sydney's Shining Star poster for Kindergarten. Each week in her class a different kid got to be the Shinning Star and be Mrs. Anderson's special helper and be at the front of the line. Sydney had fun picking out the pictures and glueing them on. She did a great job cutting around the flowers to put on it.

In April we got a new colt. Shaun's sister called and said Anne had it and it was a little girl. So, we headed over to Shaun's parents house in Smithfield and took a look. Shaun caught it and let the kids pet it. Then a about a week later Shaun's dad called and said that our little filly colt was now a horse colt. No one had really looked at it and thought it was a girl, so needless to say Shaun was even happier because we now had a boy instead of a girl. Here are some cute pictures of the little guy. Right now we think he is going to be a blue roan. The kids named him Blue Jeans, we are going to try and register his name as Forever In Blue Jeans.

Easter 2010

I know I am a little slow, but better late than never. Saturday of Easter we went to Garland's Easter Egg Hunt. Preston came out the winner between the kids with 8 eggs collected and a ton of suckers. Sydney and Shelby both got 3 eggs and some candy. They were haveing more fun just running around and talking to their friends. It had snowed the night before and there was a couple inches on the ground, nothing like frozen candy for Easter.

We then headed over to Smithfield and went to Lee's Market with G-ma Bev, Hudson, and Angie and did their easter hunt. The kids got balloons, string cheese, and candy. Boy was it crowded. After Lee's we went to Aunt Angies and the kids colored Easter Eggs.

Sunday moring was much warmer, the kids loved their flip flops and sunglasses they got from the easter bunny. I think it is funny that here it is April and Easter morning and they are wearing their Christmas PJs.

My Mom

So my mom is getting married next Friday July 2nd. They decided last week that they were going to do this. Talk about fast! Well they are going on an Alaskan cruise on July 10, which they planned 4 months ago, and decided they wanted to be married before they went. I wonder why!! So now I am in super planning mod, which I haven't planned a wedding since I got married 9 years ago. Thanks so much to all the friends that are offering to help. A friend in our ward is going to frost the cupcakes for me and I am so excited to see them. I know they are going to turn out great. She is going to make chocolate butterflies to go on top. I already know that the cupcakes are going to be my favorite part.

Saturday after my yard sale, we went over to Logan and she found 2 dresses she likes, so she bought them both and she has until next Friday to decide which one she wants to wear. I told her now she has 2 new dresses she can wear on the cruise(unless she takes one back).

She keeps changing her mind on the menu. She put me in charge and then when I tell her what I am doing she says no, go figure. You would think she was a 20 something getting married not a 61 year old. Oh well, I am happy for her anyway, even if she is causing me way to much STRESS. 4th of July weekend is not the best time to get married. I don't suggest it, unless you have it planned months in advance.

Now the only thing I have to worry about is some sort of decoration/backdrop for the wedding. She can't be just standing up there with nothing, but that is last on my list, if I don't get to that then I don't. I actually think she is going to get married in the Relief Society room so I won't have to worry about it, maybe just get a pretty flower arrangement. Any ideas would be great.

Shelby turned 3 in March (I know I am slow) She wanted an Ariel cake and to go bowling so we went to the bowling ally and had pizza and bowled. She loved it, in fact the kids beat the adults in bowling, with the help of the bumper pads. She got a dress up dress, a scooter, dancing Dora, clothes, books, and money.

Preston's birthday and other pics

My baby is 1. I can't believe it, time has gone by so fast. Preston has been walking for about 1 1/2 months and says "Hi" and "Mom". He can tell you want the Indian and lizard says, and he can raise the roof. This all depends on if he is in the mood to perform. Alot different from the girls, they loved to show people. Preston has 4 top teeth and 2 bottom and will eat anything. No more babyfood for him.

I made him a pony cake and I thought it turned out pretty good. These cakes aren't as hard as I thought they would be, this was my 4th one. I have graduated on to making my own frosting now, instead of buying the tubs. So who knows whats next. Shelby's birthday is next month and she can't decided what kind of cake she wants. One day its a heart and the next a horse or a cow. I guess I better wait until a little closer to look for a pan.

Sydney and Preston's birthdays are 1 1/2 months apart but I am just getting around to posting. Sydney's birthday, January 2nd, fell on a charriot racing day so we went to the races and then came home and got ready to go to the Olive Garden for her birthday dinner. My daughter has great taste. I was really glad she didn't say McDonalds. Plus, I didn't have to clean house. It was still all a mess from Christmas.

Sydney was very nice and asked our servers to have a piece of cake. Luckily they were close to closing time and they weren't busy. Sydney picked out Red Velvet for her cake and loved it. Now everytime we go to the store she wants to buy a red velvet cake mix.

Sydney got reading books from us so she could practice her reading. She is doing very well but now she has to read EVERYTHING that has words on it.

Preston, Sydney and Shelby with Sydney's birthday gifts from mom and dad and the kids. She got new bedding and a rug to match. Books, Shoes, math workbooks, and a tinkerbell stepping stone maker.

Family Christmas Party

We had our Rhodes family Christmas Party on Saturday night at the church. All day long Sydney was very worried about Santa coming. She is terrified of him. She had her Christmas list that she wanted me to give to him, but I told her no (I'm a mean mom). I told her that in order to get her present from him, she had to go up there and at least stand by him to get it and she could then give him her Christmas list. So when he came she of course flipped out but she calmed down when she seen everyone going up there was ok with sitting on his lap. So when they called her name she went up there and gave him her Christmas list. Then the next thing you know she is up on his lap. She came back and informed up that she is no longer afraid of Santa and Josi took a picture to prove it. Thank goodness. But now Shelby is so we have to start all over again. Preston could have cared less about him, he didn't mind sitting on his lap at all.
