Halloween & Nutcracker

We had a Cowboy, an Indian, and a Daphane for Halloween this year.  The kids got to dress up 4 times through out the week for parties and trick or treating.
The Saturday after Thanksgiving we take a trip to see Cache Valley Children's Ballet do the performance of The Nutcracker over in Logan.  Preston was old enough to go this year and he actually liked it.  I asked him if he wanted to stay home with Dad next year and he said no, he wanted to go again (even though he is the only boy.)  We went to the princess tea party before and the kids got their picture taken with The Caviler and the Sugar Plum Fairy.   We then headed over to the The Blue Bird and had lunch before heading back to the Eccles Theater to see the ballet.  This year we had 20 of us go, we took up the whole front row of the Mezzanene plus a few extras above us.

Hogle Zoo

We went to Hogle Zoo over Labor Day Weekend, with cousins.  We hadn't been there since they closed off the bears and seals for upgrading, it was amazing to see the upgrades they have done.  The kids watched the polar bear and seals swim for a long time and then we went back again right before we went home.  We're excited to see the updated giraffe part when it's done.  If it is anything like bearworld, it's going to be great.

We have no idea who the long haired boy in the middle is, he wouldn't get off so we could take a picture and I have no idea where his parents were so we took it with him in it.
This was the last weekend the zoo was going to be open with the giraffe's they are closing it to do upgrades, part of the upgrades is having a giraffe petting area, that will be fun.
Preston was the only boy again, but he didn't mind. This picture just happened to turn out with all the girls on one side and him on the other.

1st Day of School

This year I have all 3 kids in school. Sydney is in 3rd grade, and got Mrs Hardman, a new teacher to the school, but she has been teaching for over 20 years.  I actually palyed soccer with her daughter in High School.  Sydney loves her, Mrs. H does a lot with art and science.  Last week they took broken machines and broke them apart to look at them.  Well we didn't have any here but thanks goodness for Grandma Sue.  Sydney was able to take a water pick, telephone, remote control, hair dryer and a VCR.  Some kids didn't bring an item so Sydney was able to share, thank goodness because I told her she couldn't bring any of it home.

Shelby Kindergarten, and has Mrs. Holdaway, she has been teaching awhile too but this is her first year at Garland.  She teaches an after noon class at north park so she has to go back and forth.  Shelby is starting to read and reads 3 baggie books a night that she brings home from school.  She isn't quit as excited about shcool as Sydney is but she does like it, on my days off when I go upstairs to wake them up, Shelby wants to sleep in and stay home.

Preston started Preschool this year, he will go to two years because he wanted to go to school soo bad. He got in at the Early Learning Center as a Mainstreamer so he gets to ride the bus to and from, which makes it a lot better so daycare doesn't have to take him. The girls were mainstreamers there also and loved it, great expreince for us. He has Miss Starla, and loves school, he only goes twice a week, but he wishes he could go everyday, they do a lot of art at school and work on the kids' speach that are there for help.  Next year he will be doing more preparing for Kindergarten.  He has started to write his name just a little, he can write a "P" pretty good but the rest not so much.  Preston started a week after the girls and that week Shelby didn't have school so she was still in bed when I took Preston's 1st day of school picture.

Brigham City Temple

We were able to go to the Brigham City Temple Open house in August.  It was so wonderful to take the kids and let them see inside the temple.  Hopefully they will remember it as they get older and remember how beautiful and wonderful a place the temple is.  Hopefully they will make the right choice and choose to be sealed to their spouse for all eternity.

Quick Skillet Lasagna

I got this recipe awhile ago from somewhere and finally got around to try it.  I thought it was a little bland so I added press garlic and some Italian Seasoning from The Pampered Chef.  This is a great quick alternative to traditional lasagna.

Skillet Lasagna
1 lb Italian ground sausage, cooked and drained
2 cans (14 1/2 oz) diced tomatoes w/basil, garlic, & oregano
2 small cans tomato paste
6 oz cooked pasta (I used shell)
2 cups shredded mozzerella cheese
1 clove garlic, pressed-optional
1- 1 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning -Optional

Cook pasta in pot.  In a large skillet (12") cook sausage and drain.  Combine tomatoes, paste, garlic, and Italian seasoning.  Add sausage and pasta.  Top with cheese, cover and cook on medium low until cheese is melted.  Serve and enjoy, goes great with garlic bread
